Shangri-La Calcite specimen. Found at the Baishuitai (White Water Terrace) in Shangri-La, Yunnan Province, SW China. It is formed by Calcium Carbonate dissoving in Spring water, which flows down the mountainside and solidifies into terraced, sparkling, or layered structures. Baishuitai is one of the largest limestone terraces in China and is considered a sacred site representing purity and auspiciousness. Calcite is found all over the world in a variety of colours and forms. Most common colours are Blue, Green, Yellow, Honey and Orange. Optical Calcite is a clear double refractive variety. Mangano Calcite, or Pink Calcite is a soft pink, that glows under uv light. You will receive the exact crystal shown.
