Petrified Wood Teardrop

Petrified Wood teardrop, measuring approx 108mm x 55mm. A fossil which forms when a tree dies and the organic matter is gradually replaced by Quartz, and dates back hundreds of millions of years. The colours come from the different elements in the mud/water from when the wood was petrified. Found in many locations but most famously in the Petrified Forest in Arizona, USA.
