Petrified Wood Monkey Puzzle Tree from Madagascar, triassic age, measuring approx 95mm x 62mm x 48mm. A fossil which forms when a tree dies and the organic matter is gradually replaced by Quartz, and dates back hundreds of millions of years. The colours come from the different elements in the mud/water from when the wood was petrified. Found in many locations but most famously in the Petrified Forest in Arizona, USA.
