Petrified Wood Free-form

Petrified Wood free-form, measuring approx 128mm x 99mm, and weighing approx 1.1kg. A fossil which forms when a tree dies and the organic matter is gradually replaced by Quartz, and dates back hundreds of millions of years. The colours come from the different elements in the mud/water from when the wood was petrified. Found in many locations but most famously in the Petrified Forest in Arizona, USA.
