Section of Fossil Ammonite, measuring approx 140mm x 74mm x 55mm, approx 190 million years old. Ammonites are the fossilized, coiled shells of extinct marine cephalopods that lived between 240 and 66 million years ago. They are related to modern squid and nautilus and these predatory creatures lived in the outer chambers of their spiraled shells, using the inner chambers for bouyancy. They became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period, roughly 66 million years ago. You will receive the exact fossil shown.
